Golden Ponds Nature Walk

This is a time of year our family loves. The joys of Summer nature study without as much heat; the first signs of Fall.

Charlotte enjoys a little snack on our nature walk.

Grasshopper clothed in camouflage.

I'd love to know what this is. Maybe from a Tent Caterpillar? (we live in Colorado and this is in a Cottonwood Tree for those of you who might be able to id this.)

Dragonfly on wild rose.

Love this! Look at those beautiful wings in the Spider's web.

Signs of Summer still to be seen.

Along with signs of Fall.

My littlest flower.

Milkweed! This is one of those plants that we love to watch the changes it goes through this time of year. Especially since I always have younger ones coming up behind the older ones who have never seen the beautiful seeds before.

Bright red lady bug. Or ladybird beetle as my 7 year old insists on calling it now.

Acorn, still green, but it will be brown before we know it. We took some of these home with us to fill a pretty jar. Love those little hands exploring God's creation!

And I love my "big kids" who will stand and watch a chickadee jump from branch to branch as long as the little guy is willing to entertain us.

You have had a great month of nature study. I had fun following along in this entry with all the interesting things you had to learn about. I am desperate to find some local milkweed but since I can't find any I will enjoy looking at your image. :)

Thanks again for sharing your nature study with the OHC Carnival.

We have always loved nature study, it is so wonderful to be able to share on the carnival and see everyone else's entries as well. Thank you so much for hosting this!

We have milkweed everywhere in Colorado. Funny how depending on where we live things can be so common we sometimes look past them. I am always jealous of all the birds ya'll get in your backyard. Oh and anything you get to do at the beach. Land locked big time here.
