Coral Reef Books

Books are a HUGE part of our school. So I always love posting the books we've enjoyed from a unit study or read aloud or just for fun. Here are our Coral Reef reads. You can click on each one for more info.

Hello Fish I found while at a used children's store. Each page features a photo of a fish or invertebrate and gives info about that animal. Caroline enjoyed looking at this one as well. WARNING: A couple of the pages make references to millions of years, etc. I just did not read those parts. It was very easy to leave that sentence out.

One Small Square: Coral Reef was helpful as an ID guide as well as information. We have many books from the One Small Square series. There is TONS of info, so I have Caleb pick what parts he wants to read about.

Life in a Coral Reef was the first book we read. It does a wonderful job explaining what a coral reef is, how it's formed, the difference between hard and soft coral and the role of the fish and other animals.

DK 24 Hours Coral Reef was a great non fiction read. It has real pictures which are wonderful when you do not live next to a coral reef. It is full of info, but not overwhelming. My favorite part is that it tells you exactly what is happening in the reef over a 24 hour time period.

I'm going to unit studies for Joe's Science and I am going to be using some of yours for sure! I am so glad you have documented them so well on your blog! Thank you!

I sure hope your family is well and happy--from all these pictures you are:-)!! I've spent a lot of time on here tonight reading and have enjoyed "catching up".

Blessings Virginia Lee!
