Nature Walk That Almost Wasn't

It has been hot and muggy here and this makes it hard for this very pregnant mama to want to get out. Or should I say I want to, always, but the heat and humidity are difficult. It had been a handful of days since we had walked or even played outside and the kids were feeling it. Caleb was quite insistent about taking a nature walk. Honestly I opened my mouth to say no, but thankfully his sweet little voice knocked me over the head. I found myself telling him yes, but a short one. You know what, he is sometimes much smarter than his mama. It was great to get out and we all needed it.

Ladybird Beetle, or Ladybug as we call them.

Caroline had to hold her. I mean had to.

There were quite a few pretty dragonflies out that afternoon.

Here's another beauty.

Caroline loves looking at the water. She kept saying, "splash!"

Pure joy at being outside.

Caleb found this spider web shining in the sun.

I just love all the colors of summer. They are so bright and vibrant.

One of our Northern Flicker friends eating ants.

On the way home again.
