Squirrel Station and Fall Bird Feeding

We are getting ready for fall bird feeding here in the Rogers' house. We take a break from feeding the birds during the summer. It's too expensive to compete with the squirrels, we are out of town part of the summer and there is quite a bit of natural food source available for the birds, but we do feed the birds through the fall, winter and spring.

This year we decided to set up a squirrel station. We are hoping this will keep them occupied and away from the bird food. Plus, Caroline loves to watch the squirrels. Oh, and now Alice (our cat) does too.

Evan came over and helped us get everything set up. He is just as into the birds as we are!

"What's this? Hmm, looks interesting."

"And tasty."

"I think I'll take a big bite."
Then mama stepped in and said no, no.

We also filled all the bird feeders. Everyone took a turn using the funnel. It is quite a popular tool.

Here's Caroline playing in the bird seed. She scattered bird seed all over the front yard. I'm sure the squirrels will thank her.
Now we are all set for our fall friends. We'll keep you posted.

Your little girl is so cute! I love the pic of her trying to take a bite of the food. That is exactly what mine would have done. And I also like the pic of her watching the funnel...arms at her side, so seriously concentrating.
