Shape Nature Walk

Here is the Shape Nature Walk I've been saying I would blog about. I made a little Shape Nature Walk List for Caleb to put on his clipboard and mark of as we went. You can click on the image below to download the list if you would like.

The first shape he found was a circle. In fact we found lots of circles in nature. Caleb commented that it must be one of God's favorite shapes.

You have to use your imagination with this one. If you guessed diamond, then you are correct.

The stream at our nearby park made a wonderful rectangle as it flowed between some rocks.

Caleb insisted that this oval was left from an owl's home. When I showed him how there was no opening for an owl to go in, he said the door was closed. Well then.

This one mama helped a little with. Caleb wanted to go out at night to see a crescent moon. But when we did the walk the moon was not cooperating, it was in the half moon phase. He settled for this crescent shaped branch.

As we walked home from the park Caleb spotted a shape not found on our Shape Nature Walk list. Yep, you guessed it, eyeball. A perfect ending to our nature walk fun.
We found every shape on our list except for hexagon. I mainly had that one on the list so Caleb would have to look at it and figure out what shape it was. But if you can find a hexagon in nature I would love to see it. That would be very cool!
