Nesting Materials Hunt

MARCH 17th

What fun we had today! Caleb got to spend some time "walking in a bird's shoes" I guess you could say. Or maybe not, since birds do not wear shoes. But, well, you get my drift. Caleb got to pretend to be a bird out collecting materials to build their nest.

We read a few different book about what birds use to construct their nests. I would say our favorite was, "A Nest Full of Eggs" by Priscilla Belz Jenkins. And then outside we went to try our hand at the whole materials collecting business.

We found twigs, grass, weeds, some pieces of paper, leaves and even some dog fur. All items birds use regularly for nest construction.

Caleb really wanted to find some string or yarn, but we had no such luck. And if we're keepin it real, well, no bird I know can stop by the Hobby Lobby to pick some up. So we'll have to build our nest without this time around.

After we finished with our Nesting Materials Hunt, Caleb and I spent some time just playing outside in the beautiful Spring weather. (Caroline was taking morning nap.)
